Precautions For Petri Dish

Mar 12, 2022

After cleaning and disinfection before use, whether the Petri dish is clean or not has a great impact on the work, which can affect the pH of the culture medium. If there are some chemicals, it will inhibit the growth of bacteria.

The newly purchased Petri dishes should be washed with hot water first, then soaked in hydrochloric acid solution with mass fraction of 1% or 2% for several hours to remove free alkaline substances, and then washed twice with distilled water.

If you want to cultivate bacteria, then use high-pressure steam (generally 6.8 * 10 power PA high-pressure steam), sterilize at 120 ℃ for 30min, dry at room temperature, or sterilize with dry heat, that is, put the culture dish in the oven and keep it at about 120 ℃ for 2h to kill the cell teeth of bacteria.

Only sterilized Petri dishes can be inoculated and cultured.
