Standard usage method for 24×24mm cover glass slidesPreliminary preparation
1. Clean the edge of the handheld cover glass (strictly prohibit touching the center of the glass to avoid fingerprints and oil stains), wipe it with anhydrous ethanol and degreasing cotton, or soak and clean it before drying to ensure that the surface is free of stains and water stains.
2. Preparation of glass slides: Wipe the glass slides clean and add specimen solution/physiological saline/staining solution dropwise (with the droplet position centered and slightly smaller than the cover glass area).
Standard stamping (anti bubble core operation)
1. Use tweezers to grip the edge of one side of the cover glass, and first place one end of the cover glass in contact with the droplet on the slide.
2. Slowly and uniformly lower the other end and lay it flat at a 45 ° angle, allowing the liquid to naturally fill the bottom of the cover glass and completely expel any bubbles.
3. 24×24mm is a conventional square cover plate, suitable for medium-sized specimens. After flattening, the entire plate can completely cover the specimen.
Usage in different scenarios
1. Temporary film installation (most commonly used for biological observation)
Drip liquid → Place specimens (cells, tissues, sections) → Add cover glass according to the above oblique placement method.
If the liquid overflows, gently suck it off with absorbent paper on the side without touching the cover glass.
2. Stained specimens
After covering, drop the staining agent onto one side of the cover glass, and drain the other side with absorbent paper to allow the staining solution to penetrate evenly.
3. Sealing (permanent mounting)
Add neutral gum/sealing agent dropwise, then cover with a 24×24mm cover glass, gently press to remove any air bubbles, and lay flat to dry.
Precautions
1. Apply gentle force, the cover glass should be thin and brittle, do not press hard to prevent fragmentation or damage to the specimen.
2. Bubbles appear: You can gently lift a corner and place it again, or use tweezers to gently push the cover glass to drive out small bubbles.
3. Specification adaptation: 24×24mm compatible with conventional microscope slides, suitable for plant sections, oral epithelial cells, microorganisms and other specimens. It is not recommended to use specimens that are too large.
4. Using tweezers throughout the entire process can easily cause contamination and scratching of the lenses with bare hands.
Application
The cover glass can fix samples in position to prevent contamination. Its core function is to flatten solid specimens and form uniformly thin liquid layers, widely used in biotechnology, microbiology and cell observation.
