Clay Triangle
The clay triangle is formed by bending three iron wires and fitted with three pieces of plain porcelain tubes, which are named after their triangular shape. It can be large or small, depending on the size of the crucible. A triangular support made by winding heat-resistant ceramic tubes and iron wires, used to support the crucible for heating and to prevent cracking.

The clay triangle is able to withstand high temperatures due to its heat-resistant ceramic tube wrapping, and the empty pipe column has iron wires passing through it, making it able to withstand weight. When there is an object that requires strong heat from a Bunsen burner, the mud triangle is usually placed on an iron ring as a support for the object. Alternatively, it can be used in experiments that require an alcohol lamp to heat the crucible.
Application
A tripod is commonly used in laboratories to support heating, while the crucible commonly used in laboratories is made of porcelain and the tripod is made of iron. The expansion coefficients of porcelain and iron are different. If the porcelain crucible is placed on a tripod and heated directly, it is easy to cause the crucible to explode. The shape of the clay triangle is simpler and thicker than that of a crucible, making it less prone to breakage. So, the porcelain crucible should be placed on a mud triangle, the mud triangle should be placed on a tripod, and then heated.
